English: Private Milton E. Wallen of Company C, 1st Kentucky Cavalry, wounded by a Minié ball while in prison at Richmond, July 4, 1863. He was being treated for gangrene in August 1863 when Edward Stauch traveled from Washington to make this sketch. Wallen survived the infection and was furloughed from the hospital in October 1863.
Français : Le soldat Milton E. Wallen de la Compagnie C, 1er régiment de cavalerie Kentucky, blessé par une balle Minié alors qu'il était prisonnier à Richmond, le 4 Juillet, 1863. Il était soigné pour gangrène en août 1863 quand Edward Stauch voyagea depuis Washington pour faire ce croquis. Wallen survécut à l'infection et a été congédié de l'hôpital en octobre 1863.
